Massage has been found to be effective for patients with these conditions: low back pain, cancer, heart bypass surgery, anxiety, migraines, carpal tunnel syndrome and high blood pressure. Within days, muscles massaged after exercise recovered about 60 percent of their strength. This result compared to recovery of about 14 percent of strength in muscles that were simply rested. Muscles massaged after exercise had fewer damaged fibers and almost no sign of white blood cells, compared to rested muscles. The absence of white blood cells indicates that the body did not have to work to repair muscle damage after exercise. The massaged muscles weighed about 8 percent less than the rested muscles, indicating a reduction in swelling.
FOR OUR RECOVERY PATIENTS:
Massage integrates into a treatment plan to accelerate the healing process, as it stimulates the flow of blood and lymphatic fluid, relieves soft tissue tension, and stimulates nerves by stretching the muscles and their surrounding connective tissue. Massage also helps to treat anxiety and stress by relaxing the patient mentally and physically. All of our Massage Therapists are fully licensed. Daily medical notes are completed after each session.
When used in conjunction with other essential treatment services, chiropractic care in addiction recovery can be a tremendous benefit in re-establishing total body harmony.
During the initial assessment patients will receive a thorough physical evaluation to determine their needs – patients may also be referred to physical therapy as well as yoga and strength & conditioning groups as long as functional movement patterns and physical abilities allow.
