DR. HESSAM KHATAMI
Dr. Khatami grew up in South Florida and founded Atlantic Grove Chiropractic & Rehabilitation in 2009, a practice he still operates. He serves as a Team Chiropractor for Florida Atlantic University Athletic Department and serves as a corporate physician for PepsiCo. At age 16, Dr. Khatami was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and was blessed to find the head of pediatric oncology at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Dr. Stuart Toledano. Dr. Khatami became passionate about healthcare because of the “teaching approach” Dr. Toledano took while treating him. Dr. Khatami emulates this treatment philosophy and educational approach to patient care today. The motto “Never stop learning” has led Dr. Khatami to various post-graduate fellowships and certifications in the areas of functional assessments and treatments. He attended the International Baccalaureate program at Atlantic Community High School. He received his B.S. in Psychology from the University of Florida. Dr. Khatami completed the pre-medical program, earning his Chiropractic Doctorate at Texas Chiropractic College in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Khatami’s teaching approach and his continuing search for his patients underlying physical and health deficits let to the creation FTX Wellness.
OCTAVIO CIFUENTES
Originally from Nicaragua, Octavio Cifuentes attended LSU and earned his bachelors in Business at UAM. In 2007 Octavio came to South Florida to receive treatment for substance abuse. While living in a sober house, Octavio was having trouble sleeping and requested that he be allowed to begin exercising regularly. He quickly realized the physical and mental benefits of exercise. “It was the only place I found my sanity” Cifuentes said, “when I left the gym, I was tired but I also felt energized. It cleared my mind and made me feel great. I was finally able to sleep and it has been the key to my sobriety ever since.” In 2010 he formed OctFit and in January of 2011, after obtaining multiple fitness certifications, was recruited by Impact Sports Performance. While working with professional and amateur athletes was rewarding, Octavio found his true passion in helping people in recovery. “I have met many people in recovery over the years. We have many things in common. But I can say with complete certainty that when people exercise they feel better. When they get treated for the underlying physical pain that led to opioid dependence and the pain goes away, it’s a huge step towards recovery”.
Octavio formed FTX Wellness in 2015 with longtime friend, Dr. Hessam Khatami. Together they developed a multidisciplinary team that provides functional treatments to patients.
